FAQ

  • How do you accept payment?

Every lesson is 30 minutes, at a rate of $45 per child. If a “2 children lesson” is booked, the rate becomes $40 per child, for a total of $80. We require payment upon completion of the lesson through EFT. All payments are directed towards jackie@jkswim.ca

  • What about rainy days?

We love the rain! As long as both the instructor and student can comfortably swim and see, we don’t mind the extra water! In the case of thunder and lightning, we must cancel. The ability to reschedule will be based upon what is available.

  • Where are we located?

We are located in Humber Valley Village, within Etobicoke. Specific address is provided upon booking.

  • Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes, we do. In the event of cancellation, we must be contacted at jackie@jkswim.ca at least 48 hours prior. If the cancellation occurs within the 48 hours prior, we charge a fee equivalent to 50% of the booking price. Failure to pay any cancellation fees will result in the cancellation of all future lessons.

  • Is the pool chlorine or salt?

The pool is primarily cleaned by a salt-based system, though we do “shock” the pool weekly with chlorine for additional cleanliness. This small dose of chlorine will not contribute to red or stinging eyes. Students should face no trouble opening their eyes underwater!

  • Does it matter what time I book?

You are welcome to book any time that you’d like, though it is best to keep bookings in either the morning, or afternoon. We prefer to keep our student with the same instructor for each lesson, which is easiest when we see our students at regular times!

  • Do students wear lifejackets?

Though lifejackets are useful outside of instruction, we will never teach your child with a wearable flotation aid. It is recommended that students practice their skills outside of lesson time without a lifejacket, given they are under strict supervision.

  • Do you provide goggles?

Jk Swim does not provide goggles, nose plugs, flippers, etc. Though students are more than welcome to wear goggles or nose plugs, we do not recommend them. In the event that a student finds themselves in a body of water without goggles, it is important to us that they have experienced such conditions beforehand.

  • Is the water cold?

In an effort to keep both our instructors and students comfortable, we keep the pool temperature between 86-88 degrees Fahrenheit at all times. For comparison, public pools usually fall in the range of 75-82 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Can you give out levels?

JK Swim is not associated with the City of Toronto, Red Cross, or any other form of widespread swim curriculum. We pride ourselves on putting the levels aside to focus on the end goal: learning how to swim. However, we are very familiar with other curriculums throughout Toronto, and can provide advice as to what level your child should be registered in following the summer.
